The Founder of Amazon, billionaire Jeff Bezos has spent a whopping $42 million on a clock that is expected to last for 10,000 years. The monumental timepiece was installed inside a mountain in Texas.

According to the ngo named Long Now Foundation, the clock would tick only once a year, bong once an century and cuckoo once a millennium.

The clock designed by computer scientist and inventor Danny Hills is intended to be a wonder of engineering and a work of art.

The device which is expected to last 10,000 years is a mechanical device that uses the Earth's thermal cycles to power itself. The watch is 500 feet tall and spans the entire height of the mountain.

The first three chambers of the clock will contain a model of the solar system and the another chamber is kept for the future generations to fill.

Bezos is investing in the clock since he believes that humanity has bright future. The idea was actually conceived by Hills in 1995.
