Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been relocated to a secure location amid heightened security measures, according to two regional officials briefed by Tehran, as reported by Reuters.

The development follows reports that Israel claimed to have killed Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike targeting Beirut's southern suburbs. This strike carried out a day earlier, would represent a massive blow to Hezbollah, which has been under increasing pressure from a surge in Israeli military actions.

Reports suggest that Iran has maintained constant communication with Hezbollah and its other regional proxy groups as they evaluate their response to the strike.

Khamenei Issues Message

Meanwhile, Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, issued a statement regarding the recent developments in Lebanon. "The massacre of unarmed people in Lebanon has once again laid bare the savage nature of the Zionist regime to everyone. It has also proven the shortsightedness and foolish policies of the usurping Zionist regime's leaders. The terrorist gang ruling the Zionist regime did not learn from their criminal one-year war in Gaza and could not understand that the mass killing of women, children, and civilians could not affect the strong structure of the Resistance organization and bring it down.

“Now they are trying the same foolish policy in Lebanon. The Zionist criminals should know that they are far too small to inflict significant harm on Hezbollah's solid structure. All the Resistance forces of the region stand by Hezbollah and support it. The destiny of this region. It is incumbent upon all Muslims to stand by the Lebanese people and the dignified Hezbollah with their means and to assist them in confronting the usurping and unjust Zionist regime.”

"The Lebanese people have not forgotten that at one time, the usurping Zionist regime's forces had occupied Beirut, but it was Hezbollah that cut off their feet and made Lebanon proud and dignified. Today, too, Lebanon will, by the grace of God, make the aggressing, wicked, and disgraced enemy regret [its actions]."

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is killed in Beirut strike

The Israeli military said that it killed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah militant group, in a strike in Beirut. The military said that it carried out a precise airstrike while Hezbollah leadership met at their headquarters in Dahiyeh, south of Beirut.

Ali Karki, the Commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front, and additional Hezbollah commanders, were also killed in the attack, the Israeli military said. The Lebanese Health Ministry said that 6 people were killed and 91 injured in the strikes on Friday, which levelled six apartment buildings.

Nasrallah has led Hezbollah for more than three decades. There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah. Israel maintained a heavy barrage of airstrikes against Hezbollah on Saturday, as Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets toward Israel.
