At least 13 people are believed to have died in Argentina's Bahia Blanca as a result of a strong electrical storm that hit the nation's Atlantic coast.
Buenos Aires: At least 13 people are believed to have died in Argentina's Bahia Blanca as a result of a strong electrical storm that hit the nation's Atlantic coast, according to the mayor of the city.
Bahia Blanca's mayor, Federico Susbielles, verified the dead toll in a post on X.
Argentina Vice President Victoria Villarruel said, "I want to express my dismay at the tragedy that occurred in BahÃa Blanca. My hug and condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as concern for the condition of the injured. We ask the population to review weather alerts in nearby cities. All Argentines accompany you in pain."
Situated next to Argentina's leading grain-producing region, the city sits in the southernmost point of the province of Buenos Aires.
A fierce storm struck Argentina's Bahia Blanca which resulted in widespread destruction.
According to the viral video, a smashed pieces of a large building was seen lying on the road as it was hit in the storm.
The coastal city faces one of the the worst tragedy in its history.
