19 trapped in flooded mine in northern China

Rescue efforts were ongoing after a coal mine in northwest China's Qinghai Province was flooded by a mudslide on Saturday, leaving one dead and 19 others trapped.

Rescue efforts were ongoing after a coal mine in northwest China's Qinghai Province was flooded by a mudslide on Saturday, leaving one dead and 19 others trapped.

There were 21 people working in the mine in Gangca County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, when the mudslide hit according to state broadcaster CCTV, citing the provincial emergency management department. Two miners were lifted to the ground, including one who was confirmed dead, while the rest remain trapped, the department said.
