China calls US, Japan to stop 'disrupting' stability

China on Wednesday fought back at the joint statement issued by Japan and the United States in which they criticized China's "coercion and aggression" in Asia.

A spokesperson for China's foreign ministry, Zhao Lijian, urged the US and Japan to stop colluding against China and "stop disrupting the overall situation of regional peace and stability".

Zhao said China would take all necessary measures to safeguard its own sovereignty, security and development interests.
