China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday that Australia has taken a series of actions that caused their relations to take a "sharp downturn."
Zhao Lijian made the comments during a regular press briefing in Beijing. He said that people in Australia have accused China of "engaging in so-called 'intervention and infiltration' activities in Australia."
Zhao added that Australia's call earlier this year for an independent inquiry into the origin of the new coronavirus was political manipulation.
