Pennsylvania: An assassination attempt was made on the US Presidential Candidate from the Democratic Party, Donald Trump during his rally in Pennsylvania.
The former US President had a narrow escape and missed the bullet by just a few inches; however a gunshot did injure his ear.
Hours after the assassination bid, netizens found a freaky prediction of the same by the Simpsons, the American animated sitcom which is known to have made several predictions of world events in the past.
Days after the incident, the makers of the sitcom have denied these ‘predictions’ and have called the images doctored.
There are several tweets on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), which have hinted at a Simpsons prediction of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, years ago.
The tweets show photographs of an animated man who looks eerily similar to Donald Trump; he is lying in a coffin.
While this is not entirely correct as luckily, the former US President has survived the firing aimed to kill him, it still is quite eerie for the netizens to believe that something similar was predicted by the sitcom years ago.
Sharing tweets of the visuals from Simpsons, netizens have reacted with utmost surprise and disbelief.
While one user is saying, ‘Simpsons got some explaining to do; can’t make this stuff up', another user has said, ‘So Simpsons are the culprits?’
Matt Selman, an executive producer and showrunner for “The Simpsons,” said to Reuters in an email, “The image of Donald Trump in a coffin never appeared on The Simpsons. It is doctored.”
There is no evidence that the image of Trump in a coffin appeared in a real “Simpsons” episode.
“Sadly it is all too easy to create fake Simpsons ‘predictions’ like these for the purpose of misleading people,” Selman said.
This is not the first time that the Simpsons predictions about Donald Trump have made a wave on social media.
In a 2015 episode titled ‘BART To The Future’, the Simpsons depicted a sign flying past in the background which read ‘Trump 2024’.
Nine years later, Trump is here, contesting in the US Presidential Elections 2024.
Former US president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Saturday was shot at during his rally in Pennsylvania and a bullet pierced the upper part of his right ear.
In his first statement issued on the social media platform Truth Social, 78-year-old Trump thanked the US Secret Service for saving his life.
Trump got injured during his election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania following an apparent series of gunshots. He was immediately escorted out of the venue by the US Secret Service.
“US Secret Service personnel neutralised the shooter, who is now deceased. The US Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and Former President Trump is safe. One spectator was killed, and two spectators were critically injured,” said Anthony Guglielmi, spokesperson of the US Secret Service.
