Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall on Sunday laid wreaths at the Neue Wache memorial site in the centre of Berlin. They were accompanied by senior German leaders, including German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Wolfang Schäuble, the president of the German government. Charles and Camilla were in Berlin to attend a day of commemorations marking Germany's National Day of Mourning.

The Neue Wache site is home to Berlin's monument to the victims of war and Nazism, which contains the remains of an unknown soldier and an unknown concentration camp victim. Charles was expected to give a speech in the Bundestag on the occasion of Mourning Day, later on Sunday.
