France's newly appointed interior minister Gerald Darmanin met with his British counterpart in Calais on Sunday for talks on migration.

Darmanin was accompanied by France's deputy minister in charge of citizenship Marlene Schiappa while Priti Patel arrived with Under Secretary of State for the Home Office Chris Philp.

On Monday, Patel is expected to release details on Britain's post-Brexit immigration system, which is set to come into force next January.

It will operate on a points-based system, aiming to reduce the number of low-skilled migrants entering the country, while making it easier for higher-skilled foreigners to get visas.
