Pope Francis addressed onlookers in St. Peter's Square on Sunday, and took the opportunity to invite everybody to pray for peace in the Middle East.

He championed the people looking to open up dialogues about resolving issues in the area and said "the Lord" would support the idea of "fraternal coexistence."

Catholics across the Middle East are due to participate in liturgy services to pray for peace, and Francis sent a letter to catholic patriarchs in the region, thanking them for the initiative called the first "Day of Peace for the East."

The Pope also went on to send his thoughts and prayers to the people of the Czech Republic who suffered loss of life and terrible damage to property during a recent tornado which passed through the south-eastern regions of the country.
