The Doklam incident is actually an affirmation of how the Indian army can successfully swing into action when the country's interests are challenged.

  1. Faceoff between India and Chinese soldiers took place for 73 days. At no time were weapons drawn.
  2. After hectic diplomatic parleys, both sides decided to end face to face confrontation. They decided to disengage.
  3. As per the August 28, 2017 agreement, the Chinese and the Indian soldiers moved back as per designated distance.
  4. Status quo of August 28, 2017 continues to be maintained.
  5. Contrary to allegations, not an inch of land has been ceded. To begin with, it was never Indian territory. Not an inch of Bhutanese land was also ceded.
  6. India is at a dominating position in this area and can observe the Chinese activities from three sides.
  7. China was completely taken aback by the Indian Army move and hence has been forced to be positioned in North Doklam even in the current cold winters. They have never been this forward as they use to go back to their garrison town Yatung.
  8. India’s stock has gone up in the eyes of ASEAN and other countries which have bore the brunt of Chinese bullying.

Doklam is a disputed territory between Bhutan and China. Both countries are in bilateral talks over the Doklam plateau for years and it is still continuing.
