After a hectic day a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set for another round of wholesome engagements on Wednesday. With the keynote address at Bloomberg Global Business Forum, PM Modi will also meet with the PMs of Armenia, Belgium and New Zealand. On Tuesday, PM Modi received the ‘Global Goalkeeper’s Award’ and had bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump as well. He also spoke at the Gandhi at 150 event on Tuesday. 

PM’s engagements for Wednesday, September 25 

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start his day on September 25 at New York by addressing a keynote speech at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum at 8:30 am as per the New York time and 6:00 pm as per the Indian Standard Time.

  • PM Modi will then attend the CEOs' table conference at 8:00 pm IST.

  • Following that, PM Modi will be meeting with PM Charles Michel of Belgium at 10:30 pm IST or 1:00 pm as per the New York time.

  • Next comes the India-CARICOM leaders’ meeting at 12:30 am IST followed by the meetings with PM Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia and PM Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand at 3:30 am and 4:05 am IST respectively.

  • He will end his day’s engagement by meeting President Kersti Kaljulaid of Estonia at 5:15 am IST or 7:45 pm as per the New York time. 

PM’s programs on Tuesday, September 24

PM Modi, on Tuesday, met President Donald Trump again and held a key bilateral meeting between India and US delegations, within the UN Headquarters in New York. During their individual statements, Trump issued high praise for PM Modi, going on to credit the latter for bringing India together 'like a father would'. He also said “Maybe he is the father of India. We'll call him Father of India.” This meeting between the two leaders was the third one in three days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also jointly inaugurated the ‘Gandhi Solar Park’ with other global leaders at the event 'Leadership Matters: Relevance of Gandhi in the Contemporary World' at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on Tuesday. The inauguration of the 50 KW solar park was a gesture to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and celebrate his 150th birth anniversary. The event was hosted by India on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. UN Chief Antonio Guterres, PM Narendra Modi, President of South Korea Moon Jae-in, Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, Jamaican PM Andrew Holness and New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern were present and spoke at the event.

Later on Tuesday the founder of Microsoft Corporation, Bill Gates, presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the ‘Global Goalkeeper’s Award’ for India’s progress in the ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation also played a video featuring the surprise voice over by the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. Bill Gates, at the event, also explained how sanitation-related illnesses affect the world. He also praised PM Modi’s courage to make India free of open defecation.
