PM Modi keen on boosting India-US Energy ties during Houston visit

PM Modi tweeted about his US visit, saying that the programmes scheduled in Houston would surely add great energy to the ties between both the countries

On Friday, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi tweeted about his much-awaited USA visit saying that his US tour will begin with a wide range of programmes in Houston. He has said that he will interact with top energy sector CEOs and various Indian American groups based in Houston. The PM is scheduled to visit the USA from September 21 to September 27. He will address the Indian diaspora at the 'Howdy, Modi!' event in Houston, Texas. 50,000 people have already registered for the event.

US President Donald Trump will also accompany the PM on stage at the 'Howdy, Modi!' event. Various US lawmakers will also be present.

Modi tweets about his visit to Houston

In his tweets, Modi stated that the programmes scheduled in Houston would surely add great energy to the ties between both the countries. This comes amidst the latest talks between both the countries which have focussed on energy. On his visit to the state of Texas in the US, PM Modi will attend a round table engagement with CEOs of the energy sector, such as Exxon Mobile, BP, etc. In his tweet, Modi also mentioned that apart from addressing the Indian community in Houston, he would also interact with the top-ranking leaders of the USA.

PM Modi's visit to the US

Prior to his departure, the PM released a statement on his website that mentioned various details about his visit. In his statement he said that he looked forward to meeting and addressing the Indian-American community in Houston. He stated that he would also participate in major events of the United Nations in New York. PM Modi further stated that he would highlight India's success in realizing Sustainable Development Goals and India’s robust action to address climate change at the Climate Action Summit on September 23.

The Prime Minister will also attend an event on Universal Health Coverage. He has also been invited to speak at the Strategic Responses to Terrorists and violent Extremists Narratives which is hosted by the King of Jordan, the PM of New Zealand, the President of France and the UN Secretary-General.
