Culminating on September 27, his visit would commence from Houston followed by New York, where he is scheduled to take part in the high-level segment of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He also highlighted his interaction with the CEOs of leading energy companies in Houston, pointing out that energy had become a new area of mutually beneficial co-operation. The ‘Howdy, Modi!’ community gathering also found prominent mention in his statement.

‘Howdy, Modi!’
PM Modi stated that he was looking forward to addressing the Indian-American community. Praising their success and role as a 'living bridge' between the two countries, he also thanked US President Donald Trump for his presence on the occasion. He revealed that US President Trump would also address the gathering along with him. According to him, this marked a new milestone in the outreach to the Indian-American community.

UN schedule
Reiterating the role of India in showing unwavering commitment to multilateralism for advancing peace and security, he observed that he would take part in major events in the United Nations. PM Modi said that he would showcase India’s success in meeting several Sustainable Development Goals at the UN Climate Action Summit on September 23. Furthermore, he would share the country’s achievements in providing healthcare for the needy, including the Ayushman Bharat scheme at the UN event pertaining to Universal Health Coverage. The PM also put forth a concrete agenda to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, which would involve several Heads of the states and the UN Secretary-General paying a collective tribute to him.

Bilateral engagements
PM Modi is set to hold bilateral meetings with leaders from several countries, including the Pacific Island states and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) group in order to strengthen the South-South cooperation. He also stated that he would meet US President Donald Trump separately in New York to evaluate the bilateral relationship. Moreover, an address to the plenary of the Bloomberg Global Business Forum is also on his agenda. He expressed satisfaction on being awarded the ‘Global Gatekeepers Goals Award 2019’ by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The PM exuded confidence that he would be able to showcase India as a land of opportunities and a global partner during his visit to the US.
