New Delhi: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested an Indian national in New Brunswick province for groping people at a water park in Moncton city. The 25-year-old accused lives in Halifax in Nova Scotia.
The Police issued a statement saying they acted on the basis of a report of sexual interference and sexual assault at a public water park in Moncton on July 7.
According to police, the accused had been strolling around the water park and groping people. At least a dozen people testified that they were groped by him, some of whom were under-16.
The man was later released from custody, and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on October 24 this year.
In the meantime, the police have asked people to come forward ad to share if they have any important details related to the case.
“We are asking parents to speak to their children if they attended this location on July 7. We also want people to know that a sexual assault complaint can be made at any time. If you are a victim of sexual misconduct, please contact us. You will be listened to, and you will be believed,” read a press release issued by the police.
Though the police did not disclose the identity of the accused, images of him getting arrested at the water park have surfaced on social media platforms.
According to sources, the mother of one of the minor girls who was allegedly groped by the man shared his pictures on a Facebook community, warning other parents about him.
