Pakistan's Punjab Govt Asks Indian Sikhs to Carry USD Instead of INR During Visits
The government of Pakistan's Punjab province has asked Indian Sikhs planning to visit the country to carry US dollars instead of Indian rupees
Islamabad: Issuing an advisory, the government of Pakistan 's Punjab province has asked Indian Sikhs planning to visit the country to carry US dollars instead of Indian rupees. The announcement comes amid concerns over complaints from Indian Sikh visitors regarding unfavourable currency exchange practices.
Ramesh Singh Arora, Punjab 's first Sikh minister and the president of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, addressed the issue, stating, “We have received a number of complaints that Indian Sikhs visiting Pakistan for their holy places are exploited in terms of giving them way less (amount) than the current exchange rate.”
The minister stressed the importance of ensuring fair treatment for visitors and urged Indian Sikhs to be cautious during their trips.
He also advised them against paying extra amounts to group leaders for any facilities during their stay in Pakistan .
