Tel Aviv: On the eve of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year ), Israel faced a massive missile attack, with over 400 ballistic missiles launched from Iran, setting off sirens across the country. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the missiles were fired from Iran, leading to alerts in central and southern Israel, urging citizens to seek immediate shelter. The global reaction was swift, with the West and pro-Israel nations condemning the attack, while celebrations erupted in Iran.

Footage from various parts of Israel showed defense systems intercepting missiles, with debris falling in several regions. The IDF reported that explosions heard across the country were due to successful missile interceptions or impacts. Shrapnel and debris were found in Tel Aviv, the Sharon region, and near the Dead Sea, though no injuries had been reported at the time. 

'US stands fully with Israel': Joe Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden also weighed in, confirming that under his direction, the U.S. military supported Israel’s defense. "The attack appears to have been defeated, a testament to the strength of the Israeli military and our close cooperation. Make no mistake, the US stands fully with Israel."

'My Commitment to Israel’s Security is Unwavering': VP Harris 

"I condemn this attack unequivocally. Iran is a destabilizing, dangerous force in the Middle East. Today's attack on Israel only further demonstrates that fact," stated US Vice President Kamala Harris. She also expressed full support for President Biden’s order to shoot down Iranian missiles targeting Israel, referencing a similar action taken in April. "My commitment to Israel’s security is unwavering. Iran is a threat not only to Israel but also to American personnel and interests in the region."

Albanese Calls for De-escalation, Reaffirms Israel’s 'Right to Defend'

Australian Prime Minister Antony Albanese said, "We condemn Iran's actions. The defense of Israel, supported by the United States, appears to have prevented any civilian casualties at this stage. There has already been too much loss of life in this region." He called for a de-escalation, reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself.

'I Condemn…': Keir Starmer

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer strongly condemned Iran’s actions, stating, "It's too soon to fully assess the impact, but I condemn this attempt by the Iranian regime to harm innocent Israelis and push the region closer to the brink. Together with its proxies like Hezbollah, Iran has menaced the Middle East for too long. Britain stands firmly against this violence and supports Israel's right to defend itself."

As tensions continue to escalate, world leaders are calling for calm while firmly backing Israel’s right to protect its citizens from further attacks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation, stating, "Tonight, Iran attacked Israel with hundreds of missiles, but the attack failed. Thanks to our advanced air defense system and the vigilance of our citizens, we thwarted this assault. I also thank the United States for its support."
