Pyongyang: South Korean intelligence briefings have claimed that Kim Jong Un is preparing his teenage daughter, Kim Ju Ae, to become the next leader of North Korea. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) reported that Kim Ju Ae, believed to be around 12 years old, is being groomed as the heir apparent to continue the Kim family's hereditary rule.
Kim Ju Ae has increasingly appeared with her father at high-profile military events, underscoring her role in the succession plan. South Korean MP Lee Seong-kweun highlighted that Kim Ju Ae’s public engagements and the title “great person of guidance” suggest she is being primed for leadership.
The NIS has noted Kim Jong Un’s health issues, including obesity and high blood pressure, with a family history of heart problems. Kim Jong Un’s health risks are prompting North Korea to seek Western medicine solutions.
While Kim Ju Ae is currently the primary successor, there is still a possibility of another sibling emerging as a contender. The North Korean regime is closely observing public reactions to Kim Ju Ae to ensure a smooth transition of power.
Kim Ju Ae was first introduced publicly in 2022 as Kim Jong Un’s second child. North Korea has not officially confirmed the number or identities of Kim Jong Un’s children, though it is believed he has three—two daughters and a son.
