In a significant statement, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Sunday that Israel had “defeated Hezbollah” and that the elimination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, marked a critical milestone in Israel’s security efforts. Katz described Nasrallah’s killing as the "crowning achievement" of their campaign against the Iran-backed terrorist group.

“Now it is our job to continue the pressure and ..here..we will work together…to materialize the fruits of this victory,” he added.

As Katz declared Hezbollah’s defeat, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to United States President-elect Donald Trump about countering what he described as the "Iranian threat." Netanyahu's office confirmed that he had spoken with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump three times over the past few days, focusing on coordinated strategies to enhance security in the face of Iran’s influence in the region.

Netanyahu has already spoken with Trump 3 times

“In the last few days, I have spoken three times with President-elect Donald Trump ,” Netanyahu said in a statement, adding that the discussions were meant to “further tighten the strong alliance between Israel and the U.S.”

During the weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu underscored the alignment between the two leaders on key security issues. “We see eye to eye on the Iranian threat in every aspect,” he stated, referencing the shared view between Israel and the incoming U.S. administration on Iran as a regional adversary.

In addition to defense, Netanyahu expressed optimism about potential diplomatic advancements. He revealed that he and Trump discussed "great opportunities before Israel in the field of peace and its expansion,” suggesting that the upcoming administration could bolster efforts to broaden Israel’s regional relationships.

This announcement comes at a critical time for Israel, as the nation seeks to solidify alliances and reduce threats from nearby terrorist groups and regional powers.
