Tel Aviv: At least 60 people were injured south of Haifa following a drone strike by Hezbollah targeting military bases on Sunday.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), launched by Hezbollah, struck a base near Binyamina, a town located around 40 miles north of Tel Aviv, close to the Lebanese border. Seven soldiers sustained severe injuries in the attack, according to the IDF.

Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, claimed responsibility for the massive drone attack.

United Hatzalah, an Israeli volunteer rescue service, confirmed that over 60 people were wounded, with injuries ranging from critical to mild. "With the help of United Hatzalah ambulance teams, we provided assistance to over 60 wounded people with varying degrees of injuries;  critical, serious, moderate, and mild," the organization stated in a Facebook post.

Earlier on Sunday, Hezbollah announced that it had launched ‘a squadron of attack drones’ at a military training camp in Binyamina, south of Haifa, in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.

This incident comes just two days after air raid sirens were triggered in central Israel when two aerial drones entered the country from Lebanon. One building north of Tel Aviv was damaged during the incident.

For more than a year, Hezbollah has regularly launched rockets and drones across the border into Israel, with an increase in the range of attacks since late September as fighting intensified. Israel’s advanced air defense systems, including the Iron Dome, have intercepted most projectiles, limiting casualties from strikes or falling debris.

This marks the second drone strike in Israel within two days. On Saturday, during the Israeli holiday of Yom Kippur, a drone struck a suburb of Tel Aviv, causing property damage but no injuries.
