Hundreds of demonstrators protested in Tripoli, Friday, opposing a no-confidence vote in the ruling Dbeibah government  by the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR).

The motion was passed on Tuesday and condemned as unconstituntional by the High Council of State.

Protesters took to the streets in the capital's Martyr's square chanting that the decision did not represent them and that it should be overturned.

Tensions between the ruling institutions in Libya have heightened recently due to differences between the House of Representatives on one side and the High Council of State, the Government of National Unity and the Presidential Council on the other, especially over powers and electoral bills.

They threaten the political advances that Libya has been witnessing for months under an elected transitional authority, comprising a unity government and a presidential council, which assumed its duties on 16 March to lead the country to parliamentary and presidential elections on 24 December.

The United Nations mission in Libya commented that the ruling Dbeibah government retains its legitimacy until replaced through elections.
