Dozens of Syrian refugees demonstrated outside the U.N. refugee agency, UNHCR, in Beirut on Thursday saying they are not receiving the aid meant for refugees.

They called on the international community to resettle them outside the Middle East.

Lebanon is home to nearly 1 million Syrian refugees, that is nearly one fifth of its population.

Many refugees complain of discrimination in the country and lack of opportunities to make ends meet.

Lebanon has been undergoing its worse economic crisis in history with rising unemployment and poverty levels.

President Michel Aoun has called for international help to secure the safe return of Syrian refugees, saying that the Mediterranean state can no longer afford to host them.
