Nawaz Sharif, who has on three separate occasions had the Prime Ministership of Pakistan unceremoniously taken away from him, most recently in July 2017 after being convicted in the Panama Papers case, has spoken out against US President Donald Trump's stunning social media attack against Pakistan on Monday.

On the first day of 2018, Trump had sensationally called out Pakistan's "lies and deceit", accused it of providing a safe haven to terrorists, and blocked financial aid to it.

In response, Nawaz Sharif has said:

"Trump should have shown some diplomatic ethics while putting out that statement"

Following that, Sharif, who heads the ruling PMLN party, advised his party-mate and successor as PM, Shahid Abbasi:

"Shahid Khaqan should announce a clear-cut policy which defines that Pakistan doesn't need US support/aid."

On Tuesday, Pakistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Khawaja Asif had challenged Donald Trump to have a US-based audit firm look into his $33 billion aid claim.
