Rattled Pakistan violated ceasefire around 1000 times post-Aug 5; infiltration attempts on

Pakistan made more than 1000 ceasefire violations in three months after the abrogation of Article 370 to target the civilians along the Line of Control

Baffled over the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A from the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan made more than 1000 attempts to target the civilians along the Line of Control and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. 

Around 950 ceasefire violation incidents in the last three months

“Pakistan has been resorting to Ceasefire Violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control. There have been 950 incidents of CFVs along Line of Control and 79 incidents of CFVs along International Border in the Jammu region in the last three months (August to October 2019).” This data was shared by MoS MoD Sshripad Naik in reply to a question asked by Rajya Sabha Member Kumari Selja on the first day of Winter Session.

Retaliation measures being carried out

“After the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, 3 soldiers have lost their lives on the line of duty while giving befitting reply to Pakistan’s unprovoked aggression, while 7 got injured”, the government said in the upper house. On the question of steps being taken out by the Union Government to check the continuous aggression of Pakistan, the government said, “Appropriate retaliation to the ceasefire violations, as required, has been carried out by Indian Army. Also, all violations of ceasefire and infiltration are taken up with Pakistan authorities at the appropriate level through the established mechanism of hotlines, flag meetings, Directorate Generals of Military Operations talks as well as diplomatic channels between the two countries.”

'Government has adopted a robust counter-infiltration strategy'

While in reply to Rajya Sabha MP Lal Sinh Vadodia’s question whether Pakistan is trying to push in terrorists into the Indian soil and the steps being taken by the Government, Union MoS Defense in a written reply said, “Yes, Sir. Government has adopted a robust counter-infiltration strategy which has an appropriate mix of technology and human resource to check infiltration effectively. Innovative troop deployment, proactive use of surveillance and monitoring devices and the Anti Infiltration Obstacle System have enhanced the ability to detect and intercept terrorists attempting to infiltrate.”
