A leading political figure, former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member and ex-MNA Syed Ali Raza Abidi was shot dead on the streets of Karachi on Tuesday evening. 

As captured on the CCTV footage, two unidentified attackers on a motorbike shot Abidi's car. At the time of the attack, the politician was alone in the car outside his residence and was rushed to the hospital by his father, but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

He was known to be a staunch critic of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The senior politician was an active Twitter user, with a strong following. He tweeted just a few hours before the incident to critisise Imran Khan's PTI for being the mouthpiece for National Accountability Bureau (NAB)
