In an alarming breach of protocol, it was notified that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa would chaperone Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to the White House to meet US President Donald Trump.

This will be the first time that Pakistan's Army chief would accompany the country's premier to a White House meeting, thus accentuating on the claim that Khan is just the puppet of the military and that Pakistan, is in fact a praetorian state wherein the military calls the shots over political and strategic decisions.

To fuel the claim, along with the Pakistani Army chief, Khan has also been accompanied by the director-general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Faiz Hameed on his maiden trip to US

According to Khan's party, his visit to the US is crucial to the "peace process in the region," and that US's war against terror in Afghanistan will be a crucial matter of decision during his visit. As per reports, the US will urge Pakistan to release Dr. Shakil Afridi, the physician who aided the CIA to track former Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden who sought refuge in Abottabad.

While New Delhi is assertive that the US would press India's neighbour to curb terror funding and providing safe haven to terrorists. US President Donald Trump, on Monday, has instructed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to not repeat the history of arrest and release with respect to Hafeez Saeed and proceed to prosecute him this time, according to a top Trump administration official.

Siding with ally India, Trump has allegedly directed Pakistan to lift restrictions on India-Afghanistan trade through land routes passing through Pakistan's territory.

Trump has also reportedly intimated Khan of the various terror networks like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Haqqani, which continue to operate out of Pakistan. Trump has also reportedly expressed concerns about the infiltration of Pakistan intelligence agencies by these terror organisations.

A top Trump administration official has also said that Trump has directed the Pakistan Prime Minister to correct his policies on Terrorism and militants and has reportedly said that Pakistan should assist in restoring peace in Afghanistan.

The Pakistan PM's trip began with humiliation after he was not received by any US delegation or Donald Trump's minister upon, but instead by his own Foreign Minister Mehmood Qureshi upon arrival in the Qatar Airways. From then on, along with his delegations, Khan took a metro to the city.
