A bountiful pizza, baked in France, has set a new Guinness World Record for the greatest variety of cheeses on a pizza. This record-breaking creation boasts a staggering 940 French cheeses and an additional 61 from various parts of the world. It was skillfully crafted by French pizza chefs Benoît Bruel and Fabien Montellanico.
To accomplish this flavorful feat, the pizza maestros with assistance from cheesemaker Sophie Hatat Richart-Luna and YouTuber Florian OnAir, meticulously cut a two-gram cube of each cheese, adding them to the pizza's base.
“We had to pre-cook the pizza dough to prevent it tearing up with the weight of all that cheese,” explained Bruel.
They arranged the softer cheeses on top of the harder ones and enclosed the mound with a cookie cutter to maintain its structure during the cooking process. Subsequently, after a duration of two minutes, the pizza underwent the removal of the cookie cutter and was then placed back in the oven for an additional 20 seconds before being extracted.
Previous records
Bruel, who previously held the title in 2020 using 254 different cheeses, embarked on a five-month journey across France to discover additional cheese varieties.
Upon learning of his world record attempt, many cheesemakers generously provided him with their cheeses free of charge.
“It’s been a real feat being among the cheesemakers as well as being on the farms to meet the producers who are so passionate about their profession,” Bruel told the record book.
