A massive rainstorm hits the southern parts of Nepal killing a total of 25 people and injuring nearly 400 on Monday, April 1.

A massive rainstorm hits the southern parts of Nepal killing a total of 25 people and injuring nearly 400 on Monday, April 1.

The storm began on Sunday evening, sweeping through the villages of Bara and Parsa districts according to a tweet posted by the country’s incumbent Prime Minister, K P Sharma Oli.

Here’s what the PM’s tweet read:

Translated, his statement reads: By now, 25 people have been killed and about 400 injured. I shout to the dead. And, I show deeper condolences to the family members. - K P Sharma Oli

Expressing great sadness over the loss of lives, PM Oli extended his sincere condolences to the people of the country by saying, “In some places in Bara / Pursa District, it has been reported that there is an unexpected loss of wealth due to the horrific hurricane coming down. I express my grave concern for this accidental loss. The security forces have been operating at the expedition. In order to be serious in the police station and the treatment of the injured, no direct response has been made.”

As per sources, The National Emergency Operation Centre said that the injured individuals have been undergoing treatment at nearest health facilities from them.

The PM of the country further updated the status and consequences of the storm on the Official Twitter account of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers of the government of Nepal saying, “The tragedy in Bara and Parsa has reached 27, the number of lives lost from the storm. Out of 612 of the injured, 343 have returned home after treatment. An additional team of Nepal Police personnel including immediate material relief has reached 5:00 am in the morning. In the treatment of the injured, the government will not keep any calamity.”
