A woman named Maria Christina, who started working out at the age of 69, has now become a bikini body champion at the age of 73. She belongs from Reno, Nevada and served as a college president for two decades. According to the reports, she said she was physically active when she was younger but became more obese, slow and stressed after turning 50. She said that her career made her so busy and she worked at the cost of self-care and health.
After her retirement, she hired a personal trainer for the first time at the age of 69 which became a turning point in her life. She began working out thrice a week along with doing cardio in the morning. In 2017, two years ago, she became fit enough to contest the fitness modeling contests. She was competing for the women half her age and was awarded six titles in her first fitness contest. She said that she usually goes to fitness competitions and sees men around the age of 80 giving tough competition but the fitness of women seems to plummet down after they hit their 50s. She added that she hopes they can see people like her competing at the age of 73 and realize that it is possible.
Christina said that it does not take much time to understand that we can change the way we live and experience life. She said it needs a little bit of hard work and dedication to achieve it. She also took to the stage to represent the 70+ age bracket in a swimsuit, classic figure, bikini, and sports model AAU competitions, winning all four. She said the women she competed were younger than her and revealed that it was really fun. She added that seeing her working out at this age, the other young women will gain confidence not to stop working out after a certain age.
