Air India offers to waive charges of rescheduled and cancelled tickets to and from Colombo over Sri Lanka's serial bomb blasts

In the wake of bomb blasts on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka, Air India has waived off all the charges for canceling and rescheduling of flight tickets to and from Colombo till April 24.

In the wake of bomb blasts on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka, Air India has waived off all the charges for cancelling and rescheduling of flight tickets to and from Colombo till April 24.

Taking to Twitter, the airline announced its decision further requesting its passengers to report well in advance in order to clear the security at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo.

Here’s what Air India tweeted in response to the Easter bombings of Sri Lanka:

Commencing at around 8.45am (IST), three churches- St Anthony's Church in Colombo, St Sebastian's Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa and three hotels the Shangrila, the Cinnamon Grand, and the Kingsbury were targeted in the terrorist bombings.

Following the disruption caused there, two more blasts in Dematagoda and Dehiwala were witnessed as the Easter Sunday masses were in progress.

A subsequent rise in death polls, the number of people killed has exceeded 200 out of which 35 have been reported to be foreigners to the land. While more than 400 have been severely injured, government of the bereaved nation has declared a curfew with immediate effect and no clarity has been provided  as to when will it be lifted.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has chaired a high-level security meeting pertaining to the attacks.

Reports have said that seven suspects were arrested by Sri Lankan Police on the same evening and three cops have been killed in the bombings.

Extending support to the people of Sri Lanka, PM Modi has also shared remarks on the horrifying blasts and offered prayers to the families of the victims and injured. He further stated that India stands in solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka.
