Arun Jaitley offers prayers for the victims of Sri Lanka terror blasts, condemns the attack by calling it 'ghastly act of violence'

Expressing his grief the six tragic blasts in Sri Lanka on Sunday, where 156 are reported to be killed and around 400 injured, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley condemned the attack and called it a 'ghastly act of violence'.

Expressing his grief over the terror blasts in Sri Lanka during the Easter  Mass on Sunday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has condemned the attack by calling it a 'ghastly act of violence'. The act of terrorist has by far claimed 156 lives and around 400 have been injured,'.

Taking to Twitter, Mr. Jaitley extended his support to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He wrote:

On Sunday, which was the Easter Sunday, three churches- St Anthony's Church in Colombo, St Sebastian's Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa and three hotels the Shangrila, the Cinnamon Grand, and the Kingsbury were targeted.

The blasts occurred at around 8.45 a.m. (local time) as the Easter Sunday masses were in progress, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said. Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has chaired a high-level security meeting details of which are awaited.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the horrific attack and expressed solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka.

The President of India, Ramnath Kovind, offered his condolences and said that India condemns such acts of terror.
