Australian woman allegedly beheads mother, leaves head outside neighbour's home

In a horrific incident, a 57-year-old Australian woman was allegedly murdered by her 25-year-old daughter in Sydney. The Police described the act as "most horrific" as the 25-year old beheaded her mother and left the head outside neighbour's house. 

What makes the case more complicated and shocking is that officers said that a four-year-old witnessed the incident. She also suffered head injury but was handed over to family after treatment in hospital.  Detective Superintendent Brett McFadden said officers who attended the crime scene had been offered professional support. Police identified the body of the deceased as Rita Camilleri and found that she was of  Maltese ancestry.

"While police are trained to respond to all types of situations, there's no getting away from the fact this was a horrific attack," he told reporters in Sydney. "This is up there with one of the most significant, most horrific scenes police have to deal with."

Various daily newspapers in Australia reported the crime and said that the head was found on the footpath outside the neighbour's house. National broadcaster ABC said the accused woman appeared in Parramatta Bail Court via video link on Sunday, telling the court she needed medical attention. The woman has been sent to hospital for medical assessment, police confirmed to AFP. She did not apply for bail, ABC added. Meanwhile, the lady ahs been sent for medical assessment after reports of the horrific incident surfaced. 

Friends of the deceased said that the pair were 'very close' and were always seen together at the home, with no apparent conflict until the late-night screaming match. 'Jessica has major mental health issues but Rita always supported her,' Ms Camilleri's friend Cathleen Day told Daily Mail Australia. The Police said that investigation is going on in the case.
