Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid to visit Nepal from Nov 12-15

The President of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid is expected for a three-day visit to Nepal from November 12 to 15, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The President of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid is expected to visit Nepal from November 12 to 15, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari invited the Bangladeshi President for an official goodwill visit to Nepal scheduled from November 12 to 15. The release also highlighted that the President of Bangladesh will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival. During his visit, the President of Bangladesh is scheduled to meet his Nepali counterpart as well as the Vice President, Prime Minister, Chairperson of the National Assembly and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal.

President to meet prominent leaders

He is also expected to hold meetings with other prominent Nepali political leaders. The President of Bangladesh will also visit Pokhara and the historical, archaeological and cultural sites in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, as per the release. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli briefed the cabinet colleagues regarding the upcoming visit of the Bangladesh President to Nepal on Sunday. An official said that the President will be arriving in Kathmandu leading a 70-member high-powered delegation. Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen and high-ranking officials of the various government agencies of Bangladesh will accompany the President during the visit.

Hasina urged PM Oli to give final shape to PTA 

A  Ministry of Foreign Affairs official confirmed that the preparations are underway. According to the reports, both the nations are expected to hold talks on the Preferential Trade Agreement and BBIN (Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal) Motor Vehicles Agreement during Hamid’s Nepal visit. The Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hassina and her counterpart PM Oli had discussed the planned visit of Bangladesh President to Nepal when they met on the sidelines of the 18th NAM Summit in Azerbaijan on October 26. Hasina had urged Oli to give final shape to PTA with Nepal during Hamid’s visit to Nepal.
