Blind surfer talks to SNTV about recovery from coronavirus

Two-time ISA World Para Surfing Champion, Aitor Francesena, contracted coronavirus on his way back from winning his second ISA World Para Surfing title last month in California, USA.

Two-time ISA World Para Surfing Champion, Aitor Francesena, contracted coronavirus on his way back from winning his second ISA World Para Surfing title last month in California, USA.

"On the way back I brought with me, in addition to the two gold medals, the coronavirus," said Francesena.

"Had a terrible fever for ten days at home ... my cough started and a moment came that was unbearable on the 12th day since the onset of my fever, and I had to be admitted to hospital," he added.

Francesena who is blind won his first ISA World Para Surfing Championships gold in 2006.

He showed off his most recent medals from the fifth ISA World Para Surfing Championships from his quarantine in Zarautz, a seaside town in Basque Country, Spain.

"Be careful not to catch this coronavirus by doing your best and the best way is to stay home," warned the surfer.
