British rocker Pete Doherty arrested for drunken brawl in Paris

British rocker Pete Doherty was arrested by French police after a drunken brawl and will be facing charges for 'violence by a person in an inebriated state.

British rocker Pete Doherty was reportedly arrested on November 10 by the French police following a drunken brawl in Paris. According to international media reports, the 40-year-old got into a fight with an unnamed teenager who later filed a complaint saying he was injured. Doherty will be facing charges for 'violence by a person in a state of drunkenness'. Doherty was also arrested a day earlier for allegedly buying cocaine.

Second arrest in 48 hours

Pete Doherty was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning during an alleged street drug deal witnessed by police. However, under a fast track procedure, the 40-year-old was fined £4,300 for using a banned drug. He has previously been convicted for drug offenses, and also for theft and driving without a license. Earlier, Doherty also pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine. Heroin, cannabis, and ketamine. His lawyer Arash Derambarsh told an international media outlet that Doherty has agreed to undergo full-time medical treatment for his addiction to avoid a relapse. Earlier in January, the singer was also held for 48 hours and questioned. However, charges of drug possession and driving-related offenses were later dropped. Back in 2011, he was also sentenced to six months in jail for cocaine possession in the UK.

Not the first time

The English musician, songwriter, actor, and poet is famously known for being co-frontman of 'The libertines'. He has been repeatedly arrested for drugs and offenses arising from drug use. Reportedly, he has also claimed that he had been a rent boy, and during that time he robbed one of his male clients. Back in 2010, Doherty was denied entry in the United States after spending 10 hours in detention in JFK Airport and despite having a visa. The singer was also admitted to the Hope Rehab Center in Thailand after which he announced plans to start a foundation to help struggling addicts. According to media reports, Doherty's treatment in the rehab completed in 2015. However, in 2017 he was found with heroin in his car while traveling through Italy.
