Buenos Aires neighbourhood put in virus quarantine

An impoverished shantytown on the outskirts of Argentina's capital Buenos Aires was quarantined on Monday, after more than 50 residents tested positive for COVID-19.

An impoverished shantytown on the outskirts of Argentina's capital Buenos Aires was quarantined on Monday, after more than 50 residents tested positive for COVID-19.

Residents of Villa Azul will be confined for two weeks.

Police set up fences to close off the neighborhood.

Health workers took control of entrances and exits from the neighborhood, and took responsibility for distributing food and hygiene items.

Until Monday, Villa Azul had 50 people with COVID-19 symptoms but dozens more are suspected to have been infected.

As of Monday, Argentina had reported more than 12,000 COVID-19 cases and 456 deaths.
