Burglar breaks in, cooks breakfast, tells owner to go back to bed

A burglar in Florida, USA, broke into a home, cooked himself breakfast, and told the owner to go back to sleep once the owner discovered the burglar in his home

A burglar broke into a home Safety Harbor, Florida on September 3 to cook himself breakfast, authorities have said. The burglar also told the resident to “go back to sleep” when the occupant saw an unknown man in his kitchen sometime after 4 a.m. The burglar didn't harm the owner in any way and fled when the owner called 911.

The unique chef

Police deputies have identified the man as Gavin Grim, a 19-year-old marine. Reportedly, he entered the Safety Harbor home in a block of Huntington Boulevard after 4 a.m. while the owner was still at home. Grim started cooking and eating as soon as he broke into the house. When the owner confronted Grim, Grim asked him to go back to sleep. However, just as the owner called 911, Gavin ran away from the house.

Evidently, Grim was later found behind the home, hiding in the wooded area. Grim has admitted breaking into a home and arrest reports also state that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Other quirky Bulgars

This was not the first time that a burglar's choice of loot has been unique. On September 2, Florida deputies even bought a cat into custody for a burglary. A small cat named Bones entered the homeowner's house by sliding door along and meowing.

On September 6, a man was arrested in Washington for breaking bongs and biting the security guard. Authorities in Kentucky also reported on August 16 that three thieves were stealing gasoline from a property for their broken car. The trio ended up stealing a 5-gallon gasoline jug from a garage.

Another case which was reported from Las Vegas was of a man who broke into a hotel room to take a shower before he stole a television. He was later arrested by the Las Vegas police. On August 12, firefighters rescued a naked man stuck in a chimney who was accused of burglary of a Los Angeles-area home.
