Chinese military dispatched trucks on Tuesday to transport goods and supplies from distribution centers to major grocery stores in Wuhan, China's Central Television reported.

The military transport teams transported 350 tonnes of goods and materials to 78 markets and shops in the communities of Wuhan, CCTV said.

The epicenter of China's viral outbreak, Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province, where a combined population of more than 60 million have been under lockdown since the Lunar New Year holiday last month.

While the overall spread of the virus has been slowing, the situation remains severe in Hubei province.

Infections in Hubei constitute more than 80% of the country's 74,185 total cases and 95% of its 2,004 deaths, according to data from China's National Health Commission.
