Guatemalan communities of more than 180,000 people live near three erupting volcanoes with many incapable of moving to safety.

Locals like Lendy Salan, who live underneath one of the active volcanoes, Volcan de Fuego, are fearful of a full scale eruption.

She explained that when lava flows from Fuego - or Volcano of Fire - it cascades into the nearby rivers, so "when the time comes to leave, we can't because we're stuck there".

Her only option is to move to higher ground.

It is one of 11 active volcanoes in the Central America country that is along the so-called Ring of Fire.

Hundreds were killed in the last deadly eruption in 2018.
