Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel hosted Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana on Thursday.

Borisov was in Cuba to attend the XVIII Session of the Cuban-Russian Intergovernmental Commission that discusses economic-commercial and scientific-technical collaboration between the countries.

The commission meetings began on Wednesday and were scheduled to last two days.

Cuban state-run media has had little coverage of the summit and no specific details of the encounter between Díaz-Canel and Borisov other than to run silent images on Thursday night's local television newscast of the men meeting.

Borisov arrived in Cuba after visiting Venezuela earlier in the week, where he met with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
