The President of the European Commission urged all nations attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday to "upgrade and modernise" their international forum in order to tackle the "global challenge" of climate change.

The President of the European Commission urged all nations attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday to "upgrade and modernise" their international forum in order to tackle the "global challenge" of climate change.

Speaking in an address, Ursula von der Leyen said there was still "scope to address these risks" posed by climate change, but that the "window of opportunity is rapidly closing".

During her speech, she gave details of the European Union's plan to prioritise its European Green Deal, which she said will focus on making Europe the world's first cimate neutral continent by 2050.
