French movie icon Catherine Deneuve admitted to Paris hospital

French actress Catherine Deneuve is reportedly in a serious state and has been admitted to a hospital in Paris. The 76-year-old actor fell ill overnight and was admitted on November 6. She is a legend in French cinema also called the true embodiment of French women. In her younger days, the actress looked so exquisite that she was called “Ice Maiden”. Deneuve became France’s leading screen actress and a top international star in the 1960s.

Many claim that Catherine Deneuve was not in a 'serious' condition

On the other hand, Deneuve’s associates reported to the media that her condition was not alarming. Some reports claim that the actress was suffering from “fatigue”. It is very much possible as she has had a busy schedule and is ageing. As per reports, the actress was currently working on French director Emmanuelle Bercot’s drama De Son Vivant, which is shooting near Paris. The actress has also had a long list of French and Hollywood movies in her to-do list and was also seen in the 2019 movie The Truth. She also attended the Venice Film Festival earlier this year to open the film.

Deneuve is an icon of French Cinema

Deneuve is a true icon of French Cinema. She has worked with the world’s greatest directors, such as Luis Bunuel, Francois Truffaut, Manoel De Oliveira, Lars von Trier, and Francois Ozon. She succeeded Mireille Mathieu as the official face of Marianne, France's national symbol of liberty in 1985. Deneuve made her film debut in 1957 and first came to prominence with Jacques Demy's 1964 musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, before going on to star for Polanski in Repulsion, for Demy again in The Young Girls of Rochefort and Donkey Skin, and for Buñuel in Belle de Jour and Tristana. The actress was nominated in Oscars for her performance in the film Indochine, directed by Regis Wargnier, in 1993, and for a BAFTA in 1969 for Bunuel’s Belle de Jour, which was her breakout role. She has won several Cesar awards, which is considered France’s highest film industry honours.
