Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the iconic 90s sitcom 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' on September 22, the world's tallest tower Dubai's Burj Khalifa lit up with memorable quotes from the show. A video posted by Burj Khalifa authorities on Youtube shows the Dubai night sky lit with a Joey's 'How you doin'?'. As the legend flashes, the musical fountain erupts in a burst of water set to the background soundtrack of -'I'll be there for you'. Distribution rights of the hit 90's sitcom were sold to Netflix in 2015 for $120 million, as per reports.
The video shows a musical fountain show set to the show's soundtrack with the characters' unique dialogues interspersed in it. As the video starts, Phoebe and Joey chime in. As the soundtrack proceeds, the lights are seen to change accordingly. As the title track's four claps are played, the colours on the tower change in a flurry in synchronisation to the track. Several other quotes like 'Pivot' with the outline of a couch, Phoebe's guitar and a 'smelly cat' float up the building. The video ends with a combination of many artifacts including the 'Central Perk' couch from the show flash up on the building.
On the occasion of the sitcom completing 25 years on September 22, a New York City Pop-Up was organised by the show producers called 'The One with the Pop-Up'. Fans were given an oppurtunity to walk through different sections in 8,500 square feet loft space where more than 50 original props will be displayed. The set includes replicas of Joey and Chandler's living room the iconic Central Perk, Monica's chef uniform, Phoebe's suede jacket to name a few. The Pop-Up which is an experimental project initiated by Superfly, in partnership with Warner Bros., which produced the show from 1994-2004.
