On October 07, several people got injured when a truck reportedly rammed into nine cars in the German city of Limburg. According to the police reports, the stolen white lorry which slammed at a spotlight near the main railway station supposedly wounded 17 people including the driver. Police claimed that it is too soon to speculate the motive, however, the driver who is in custody is being investigated. Further, the witnesses are reportedly being questioned and the police department is also looking for evidence.

The suspect

The owner of the truck reported that the man who stole his truck was probably in his 30s with short dark hair and a full beard. “A man dragged me out of my lorry. I asked him 'What do you want from me?', he didn't say a word”. The passers-by also told an international media outlet that when the man emerged from the crash, they provided him with first-aid. They claimed that the driver said 'Allah' several times and spoke Arabic. The police urged social media users not to jump to conclusions. They said, “We are not ruling anything out. But we call on you: don't take part in speculation!”. The man was reportedly sitting beneath a tree without knowing he had been driving. He was supposedly bleeding from the nose, his hands were bloody and his trousers were torn.

Germany on high alert

Since the accident, Germany has reportedly been on high alert. Germany has also had several jihadist attacks in recent years that were claimed by the Islamic State group. The most deadly attack was committed in 2016 by 23-year-old Tunisian Anis Amri, who reportedly killed 12 people. The accused had reportedly stolen a truck and plowed it through a Berlin Christmas market. The Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Germany's domestic security watchdog, warned earlier this year of increased risk by the IS fighters returning from Syria and northern Iraq. It was also reported last week in neighboring France that a Muslim convert had supposedly adopted radical beliefs stabbed four colleagues to death at Paris police headquarters.
