Google Doodle is celebrating its 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall in Germany with a doodle that took the pictures of breaking down boundaries.

Google is celebrating its 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall with a doodle that took the pictures of the demolition of the wall that separated many families. A Berlin-based guest artist Max Guther created the doodle that depicts a man and a woman embracing each other walking over the wall that was brought down. This moment signaled the simultaneous end of the Cold War and the beginning of German reunification.

Google celebrates 30th anniversary

According to Google, Guther said that its a privilege to have worked on the subject. He drew inspiration for the artwork from memories and old photographs of his parents who resided in Berlin 30 years ago and witnessed the fall of the Berlin wall. He said that people often fight border walls all over the world, some live in divided or separated countries while some of them flee from their home countries because they don't have any choice.

Demolition of wall sparked a series of events

Google put up a statement about when the Wall came down. An official's hasty statement caused many to have the mistaken belief that they would be able to travel freely from East Germany to West Germany. Google's statement further said that within a few hours a huge number of the crowd gathered at the wall outnumbering the border crossing guards. He also added that the officer-in-charge of the Bornholmer Street checkpoint ordered his superiors to open the gate. The word spread quickly and within the next few days two million Germans crossed the border with many of them singing, dancing, and toasting the start of a new era and others began physically pull apart the wall.

The Berlin wall was established on August 13, 1961, and separated the East and West Berlin with the barbed wire and concrete structure. Its demolition sparked a series of events that led to the reunion of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic.
