The transit Braemar, which set sail from Southampton, the UK on September 27, 2019, broke the existing record to become the largest ship ever to traverse the “famous feat of engineering”. According to Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, the Braemar, which crossed the canal, is 24,344-gross-tonnes, 195.82-metre-long and 22.52-metre-wide and it cruised through the narrowest point, measuring 24 metres, of the canal. The Corinth Canal cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Greek mainland from the Peloponnese.
