United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres presented his Common Agenda Report to the U.N. General Assembly on Friday, saying the world is under "enormous stress."

Guterres cited the ongoing pandemic and the lack of a more broad vaccination policy as an example of the failings of current systems to deal with the pandemic.

"We must take our heads out of the sand and face up to future health crises," he said.

The report looks ahead to the next 25 years and represents the secretry-general's vision on the future of global cooperation and a stronger focus on youth and future generations.

"These two groups will inherit the consequences of our decisions, "but are barely represented at the global table of decisions," Guterres said.

On economic quality, Guterres called for new metrics to incorporate broader equality along with social and environmental issues rather than the pursuit of profit.

The report comes just days ahead of the General Assembly gathering of world leaders.
