Hong Kong announced Friday it was closing schools again following a spike in new coronavirus cases in local communities.

It comes as many children celebrated their end of term exams, but parents and teachers are worried about the latest wave of the virus outbreak in the southern Chinese territory.

After weeks of very few local infections, Hong Kong suddenly has registered dozens this week.

The government has responded by reintroducing social distancing measures, including school closures.

Hong Kong closed schools early during the outbreak in late January, just after the lunar new year holiday, and children began returning to classes in late May.
