Hundreds of people protested outside the Israeli embassy in Tokyo on Friday as Israel and Hamas agreed to a cease-fire.

The protest in Tokyo was organized by the Muslim community.

The demonstrators gathered in a park and were escorted towards the embassy in small groups.

Naiem Araien, one of the protest organisers, said he hoped there would be no more conflict in the region.

The fighting began on May 10, when Hamas militants in Gaza fired long-range rockets toward Jerusalem.

The barrage came after days of clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli police at Al-Aqsa.

At least 230 Palestinians were killed, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which does not break the numbers down into fighters and civilians. Twelve people in Israel were killed.
