'I am in constant touch with Indian High Commissioner in Colombo', assures MEA Sushma Swaraj on the Sri Lanka terror attack

Following the six tragic blasts in Sri Lanka on Sunday, where 129 are reported to be killed and around 300 injured, Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj expressed her condolence and assured all Indians that she is in constant touch with the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.

Following the six tragic blasts in Sri Lanka on Sunday where 156 are reported to be killed and around 400 injured, Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj expressed her condolence and assured that she is in constant touch with the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka. 

She also assured that India is closely watching all the developments regarding the issue. 

To help the victims and relatives of Indian Nationals in Sri Lanka, MEA Sushma Swaraj also provided helpline numbers for further assistance.

On Sunday, which was the Easter Sunday, three churches- St Anthony's Church in Colombo, St Sebastian's Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa and three hotels the Shangrila, the Cinnamon Grand, and the Kingsbury were targeted, killing 156 people and injuring over 400, as per reports.

Meanwhile, EAM Sushma Swaraj has been constantly providing inputs about the incident.

The blasts occurred at around 8.45 a.m. (local time) as the Easter Sunday masses were in progress, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has chaired a high-level security meeting .
